Together against the Nazi march on January 18th in Aachen
Latest updates on the protests against the Nazi March on January 18th in Aachen
On January 18th, neo-Nazis plan to march in Aachen from 4 PM, spreading their
hateful propaganda on the streets. But we will already be out there before they
start!
Their demonstration is planned to move from the Rothe Erde train station to the
Autonomous Center/Autonomes Zentrum (AZ), where they intend to end their
demonstration. On the same day, the event “WTF! – Die Tuntenshow,” organized by
the Queerreferat Aachen, will take place at the AZ.
This is the first attempt in about 10 years to hold an openly far-right
demonstration in Aachen. It is also a direct attack on us at the Autonomous
Center, our guests, and everyone who uses our spaces.
Together with the Queerreferat and antifascist groups, we will organize
determined counter-protests and call on everyone to stand against the Nazi
march!
We encourage you to join the various registered protest gatherings and send a
clear message against exclusion and right-wing ideologies and for solidarity,
emancipation, and the freedom of all individuals.
The rallies will happen simultaneously, and all are legally registered. You can
move between the different protest locations along the Nazi march route, as the
police cannot prevent you from participating in any of the registered
gatherings.
The Nazi march is scheduled to start at 4 PM at Rothe Erde train station and end
around 6:30 PM in front of the AZ.
Please note: the route of the nazi march changed.
Different protest gatherings are registered as starting points for antifascist
counter-protests and will be published here soon!
Two of them are announced yet:
– At Rothe Erde train station forecourt:
Protest starts at 2 PM
– At the Autonomous Center:
Protest gathering and retreat space open from 12 PM
At the AZ, there will be warm drinks and food available throughout the day. If
you need a break or want to warm up, this is the place for you!
You can also get the latest updates at any of the rally locations.
The Legal Team (EA) Aachen can be reached that day at +49 163 338 68 98. Call
them if you witness arrests or are affected yourself.

Full call:
Together against the Nazi march on January 18th in Aachen!
Neo-Nazis have announced a demonstration in Aachen on January 18th under the
slogan “For Law and Order: Against Left-Wing Extremism and Politically Motivated
Violence.” This is the first attempt in about 10 years to hold an openly
far-right demonstration in Aachen; a demonstration that directly targets us at
the Autonomous Center, our guests, and everyone who uses our spaces.
The march is planned to start in Aachen’s eastern district, at the Rothe Erde
train station, and move directly to the AZ. This poses a danger to everyone who
does not fit into their hateful worldview. The group involved in organizing a
recent march in Berlin, just weeks ago, included militant neo-Nazis, and that
march led to brutal attacks on left-wing activists.
We are not surprised that the police have approved the demonstration (in this
scope), nor that Nazis feel emboldened by societal developments to take their
hateful propaganda to the streets, and we, as an antifascist institution, are
again targeted as their enemy.
The AZ and its supporters have a long history of dealing with far-right threats
and attacks and have gained a wealth of experience in handling neo-Nazis in and
around Aachen. In the past, there have been countless brutal attacks by
neo-Nazis on the AZ and its guests, as well as on other left-wing spaces, such
as the offices of Die Linke and the Pirate Party, leftist pubs, and venues used
by the LGBTIQ+ community.
The attacks on the AZ have ranged from butyric acid attacks, a placed fake bomb,
steel-ball slingshot attacks on AZ guests, drive-by shooting with a gas pistol,
and assaults by armed neo-Nazi groups at the AZ entrance or on presumed leftists
near the AZ. A full list would exceed the scope of this text.
We have therefore been closely monitoring these developments for many years, and
just as we have faced and survived past threats and militant attacks by neo-Nazi
actors over the past three decades, we will withstand this new attempt as well.
We never doubted that it was only a matter of time before neo-Nazis reemerged.
However, the marks left by neo-Nazi violence in Aachen are far greater than
those the organizer of this march arrogantly imagines he can leave. Nonetheless,
we take the announcement of a Nazi march in Aachen seriously.
On January 18th, the AZ will host the event “WTF – DIe Tuntenshow” by the
Queerreferat Aachen, which makes this particularly an attack on the LGBTIQ+
community, and we are determined to stand against it together.
This Nazi march near the train station is an immediate danger to all LGBTIQ+
individuals, especially those traveling by public transport to the AZ event. We
will work with the organizers of the Tuntenshow to ensure a safe journey and
send a clear rejection to the Nazis who try to create a space of fear for those
fighting for emancipation, equal opportunities, and the freedom of all
individuals.
If the initiator of this march, who was recently still active in the AfD, and
his followers believe they can dump their hate on our doorstep without
consequences, we can only promise they are very mistaken.
Join the counter-protests, don’t be intimidated, and take action!
On January 18th, let’s sink the Nazi march together!
