The #Spectator is an odd publication.
Leaving aside a dubious treatment of the costs of gas generators and wind, (briefly: wind is cheaper; we have some gas; it'll last longer on a lower duty-cycle; batteries exist.)
The author ignores entirely the cost of continuing damage to the environment, which is already considerable.
