If you're in Ōtautahi-Christchurch and use #iNaturalist, we've got a free workshop happening in two weeks on how to make identifications on iNat.
Every observation on iNat needs to be identified, and often annotated, and this is all done by volunteer identifiers. 19,540 identifiers have so far identified NZ observations on iNat.
Being an identifier is useful and fun and you learn a lot. There are roles for everyone from beginners who identify an unknown observation as a daisy and annotate it with "flowering", to professional and expert taxonomists.
The workshop will cover how all this works on iNat and help everyone interested to find their right space as an iNat identifier.
It's happening from 2–4:30 on Saturday 25 October, at the City Nature Lab on the Climate Action Campus. That's where Avonside Girls High School used to be before the earthquakes.
The link contains a registration link so we can plan to buy enough nibbles and drinks to keep everyone happy.
