Screen Walks is now fully archived and accessible for all on the Internet Archive as a collection :)

All 86 Screen Walks plus three online performances and a tutorial have been uploaded. Further information and curatorial files are available for researchers upon request at Fotomuseum Winterthur and The Photographers' Gallery's archives.

While all the recordings will also remain on Screen Walks YouTube channel, previous awful experiences by cultural institutions relaying solely on corporate video-streaming platforms for preservation and archiving show that they can't be trusted.

On the other hand, the Internet Archive has demonstrated a long-term strong archival commitment to preserve and keep the internet accessible for all. An invaluable commitment I can't be more thankful of.

For the last 5 years I've been co-curating Screen Walks with my good friend Marco de Mutiis, a programme of live-streamed events inviting artists, curators, researchers to share their screen and explore the digital and networked transformations of the image, while experimenting with what the a live-streamed format can offer. Some of our guests are here in Mastodon and the fediverse :)

We started on the second week of lockdown in 2020 with only one rule: no slides! Sad to shut it down but happy about the knowledges, criticality, experimentation and friendships that the more 80 events brought together. We just announced it and are getting really nice feedback from participants and audience. It wouldn’t have been possible without The Photographers' Gallery digital programme and Fotomuseum Winterthur, the institutions supporting it.

The recordings of all events will remain publicly accesible at https://www.screenwalks.com and will be archived and preserved by both institutions. Thank you and goodbye Screen Walks! 🥲

Screen Walks

Is there anyone working on some sort of opensource AR platform for the fediverse? I'm thinking on something similar to Peertube or Pixelfed but for facial filters.

Wondering about this in relation to the sudden SparkAR shutdown by Meta and a Screen Walk we just hosted with Lauren Miller who has researched on the hundreds of thousands of filters that will soon dissappear

My new video podcast "A Lift Home" takes off on May 24, 7 p.m. (CEST). I give game scholar Ida KH Jørgensen a lift home in Microsoft Flight Simulator. The topic of the flight: #simulation. Boarding is at https://screenwalks.com. Plenty of seats left #screenwalks
