⚠️ Here's info that paints the urgency around the internet bills.
There is a minimum of 36 hours between passing from subcommittee to when it can be voted on in committee. It sounds like they are trying to slam it through.

🚨⚠️ URGENT ‼️ Congress is pushing through 18 bills that could age-gate and censor the internet as we speak.
Call the House Energy and Commerce committee + your own representatives and tell them you OPPOSE these efforts!

I say this about every Privacy Guides video, because it is repeatedly true, but this video is our best one yet 🤩 https://youtu.be/q0hE4EM7RRo
And this is an absolutely critical watch if you're in the U.S.A., or at least contact your reps via https://www.badinternetbills.com/ if you don't watch. The bills being proposed (largely by Democrats, they are not fighting for you!) will have a devastating global impact on free speech and privacy online.

Last week in the United States of America, Congress began fast-tracking nearly 20 bills in a massive effort to enact massive censorship on the internet, decimate your ability to use computers privately, and severely restrict free speech online.
We sat down with @taylorlorenz to dissect these 'Bad Internet Bills' and what you need to know to stop them: https://www.privacyguides.org/videos/2025/12/16/taylor-lorenz-on-kosa-the-screen-act-and-repealing-section-230/

Nate Bartram sat down with technology journalist Taylor Lorenz to decipher the slate of bills being fast-tracked through Congress which threaten free speech, privacy, and your right to freely access information on the internet.
If you are in the United States, CALL YOUR REPS!
Despite major opposition from the people about "internet safety bills", lawmakers are still trying to push over a dozen bills that aim to mandate age-verification, repeal Section 230, and weaken end-to-end encryption.
Among the worst is the SCREEN Act, a bill that would mandate nationwide age-verification to any site that lawmakers deem "harmful to minors". Also, while we're on that subject, KOSA is now filibuster-proof.

House subcommittee markup of KOSA and other "online safety" bills this Thursday!
It's at 10:15 am, Eastern Standard Time (UTC -5) this Thursday, December 11. Bills also include he odious SCREEN Act, the App Store Accountability Act, COPPA 2.0 (aka CTOPPA), and more. It looks like it will be livestreamed here.
Now's a very good time to contact your representative! Here's Fight for the Future's suggested script, from https://www.badinternetbills.com/
“Hi there, My name is (your name) and I am calling to oppose multiple harmful internet bills that are moving through Congress right now. I oppose all bills that mandate online ID checks, infringe upon our constitutional right to free speech on the internet, enable government policing of online resources, and threaten end-to-end encryption. If you truly care about young people’s experience on the internet, you should pass comprehensive data privacy legislation and oppose any bill that forces Internet users to submit to ID checks or would censor the internet, like the SCREEN Act, App Store Accountability Act, and KOSA.”
