Flemish Renaissance style former staff cottages for Ruchill Hospital on Bilsland Drive in Glasgow. Designed by A.B. McDonald, the hospital was opened on part of the former Ruchill Estate, which had been purchased by the Glasgow Corporation in 1892 (the rest of the estate being used to create the neighbouring Ruchill Park).

Charles Rennie Mackintosh's Ruchill Parish Church Halls on Shakespeare Street in Glasgow is set to be sold by the Church of Scotland sometime in the next year. Built in 1899, it's probably the last Mackintosh building still owned by the original owner and still being used for its original purpose. It still retains a lot of its original features inside as well.

Love this rather unusual gushet tenement on the corner of Panmure Street and Firhill Road in the north of Glasgow. The octagonal column of corner oriel windows is particularly eye-catching.

Our Lady of Assumption on Bilsland Drive in the Ruchill. Designed by Thomas S. Cordiner, it was built in the 1950s, which must make it one of the last churches in Glasgow built with red sandstone.

The former Ruchill Sanitation Wash House and Disinfection Station on Bilsland Drive in Glasgow. Built in 1893, it was part of the Ruchill Hospital, which was specifically constructed to treat patients with infectious diseases such as such smallpox, diphtheria, scarlet fever, poliomyelitis and measles, all of which were common within the crowded living conditions found in much of Glasgow at the end of the Victorian era.

A view of the towers of the West End of Glasgow from Ruchill Park. One of the things I always loved about Glasgow was the way much of its skyline was still dominated by Georgian and Victorian towers and spires rising above sandstone tenements even up until the early 2000s. Unfortunately, this rather unique aspect of the city's architecture is now rapidly disappearing under a wave of cheaply designed, generic-looking and boxy high rise developments.
