The Maryhill, a working, scale replica of the classic Clyde Puffer, in the Kirky Marina. In the industrail era many of these ships, made famous in Neil Munro's book, and the 1970s TV adaptation (still much loved here), were built and launched near this spot

The Kelvin Aqueduct on the Forth and Clyde in Glasgow, currently devoid of water while a leak is being fixed. This aqueduct, dating from 1787, is 136m long and 19m high, and was built to carry the Forth and Clyde Canal across the River Kelvin. It uses three feet of puddling clay to make it waterproof, and it is presumably this layer of clay which is being repaired.

#Kirkintilloch Marina yesterday evening. This all used to be industrial, they built & launched vessels here, including the iconic "Vital Spark" Clyde Puffers (there's a memorial to them in the marina).

Cobbled road surfaces are often older than those covered with setts, and the latter largely replaced the former during the 19th Century. As a result, cobbled surfaces are relatively rare in Glasgow, much of which was built after setts became commonplace. This may explain why these ones can be found alongside the canal, which was constructed at the end of the 18th century.

An unusual view of the Maryhill Locks in the northwest of Glasgow. Part of the Forth and Clyde Canal, the locks were constructed in the 1780s. They're currently been worked on, so one of the basins is now empty of water, giving a change to see parts of them you'd never usually get to see. I bet there's some interesting stuff hidden in all that mud!

Last night was the start of the toad season! There were dozens of them on the tow path when I was out walking Max. Even spotted a newt!

Not bad for someone in their fifties who'd never really done any long-distance running before starting this challenge!

My long run today took me up along the Forth and Clyde. Canal, where there's always an interesting sight or two to be had, but this morning's run was a bit of a special one for me. For some still unknown reason (alcohol might possibly have been involved!), at the start of 2021 I set myself the seemingly unlikely target of running a half marathon around the streets of Glasgow every month for the next 60 months. Today, I completed number 60!
