Keeping an eye on this, the war in Gaza may be bringing some of the old terrors back.

The academic theorised that the #PoliceKillings could have been carried out by a JI #SplinterGroup, seeing that the last JI #TerrorStrike took place on Sept 16, 2014, with the bombing of the #RizalPark Monument in the #Philippines, which killed one person and injured seven others.

127 years ago today, #Freemason #Filipino-Chinese Dr. José Protasio Rizal Mercado y Alonso Realonda, was executed by #Spain's #Spanish overlords, and Roman #Catholic Church priests, in the #Philippines.
On December 30, 1896, he was walked from his prison in #Intramuros to Bagumbayan (later called: #Luneta and then #RizalPark) in #Manila. It's more or less 2 km by [modern] road.
The main/primary monument for Rizal is located 100m SSE of where he was shot by the #Spaniards.

Very pleased to say that I've only used up 3% power for my first 10km today. 😁 🚲🔋
Now waiting for the rest of the group to show up. Then it's a long long ride to #Cavite. 🚴♀️
I passed by #RizalPark (#Luneta) earlier and there are things I learned from the locals.
See attached #OpenStreetMap screenshot for reference.
1. The part in red is now owned by the National Museum of the Philippines. It was supposedly transferred to them sometime in 2020 during the lock-down. It was originally owned by Rizal Park.
2. The part in blue, the National Planetarium, will be moved to the part in red. Modernised and bigger.
3. The part in blue was transferred to Rizal Park.
4. The part in red will also have other buildings, other than the new National Planetarium.

* The giant #LapuLapu monument was already gone, not even its frames, when I visited earlier.
* They started to remove the Philippine map (in the red part) last week or so, which was noticed by a Filipino, which went viral last week.
* The part in red was closed since during the lock-down of 2020 and was never opened since. Construction (or destruction?) only started, supposedly, this year.

#Trivia 1: According to my parents, the “Sentinel of Freedom” (a.k.a. giant Lapu-Lapu monument) was originally a skating rink (quad skates).
#Trivia 2: There was also an open restaurant owned by a deaf mute association (if someone remembers them, please share so I can update this) around the area in red. If I remember correctly they were located at the lower-left corner of the red area. They were serving in roller skates (quad skates).
The last time I saw them, if I remember correctly, was sometime mid-to-late 1990s, before they closed.
So… yeah… too bad I was not able to take photos of the area before it was permanently closed. #Memories gone. 😭
