Well the two referenda put to the Irish citizens got defeated.
To me, it's a reflection of how poorly communicated the two amendments have been by the government and how poorly thought out they were.
My take on it is that people didn't think the proposed fixes fixed anything properly and so applied the if it's not evidently better then say no.

Ireland’s referendum campaign started with a big majority for the progressive side.
The “progressives” moaned about the wording not being perfect, demotivating voters.
The regressives told their lies and mobilised voters.
WE HAVE TO LEARN FROM THIS

Irish #Referendums:
All boxes are opened in Dublin South Central.
Fun what I've seen and heard, both referendums are being defeated in Dublin.
And my guess is that rural areas will have a higher 'No' vote.

You’re voting today in the referendum?

I'm probably now going to vote yes-no, but may vote no-no. Not 100% sure yet.

You’re voting today in the referendum?

Here in Ireland, we are holding a referendum on changing two sections of our constitution. If I were to summarise the changes, I’d say: The family one is to recognise that marriage isn’…

Mario Rosenstock interviews Larissa Nolan about the referendum and is worth a listen. Just skip their annoying banter about how woke they are at the end.

Great to see PBP, SocDems and Labour reps and councillors going against their party stance and calling for a #VoteYesNo in the #Referendum24 #Ref24

I’m a firm believer in changing your opinion once presented with new facts. I was originally a #VoteNoNo as I felt the new wording for the family was too ambiguous but have since read more from experts and changed my mind.

I think it’s insulting to people’s intelligence to claim those changing their minds have been bullied.

"The care amendment and single issue feminism" by Prof Siobhán Mullally.

Mullally is brilliant. The provisions of Article 42 were wrong to begin with in 1937, and a betrayal; and a new wrong Article in 2024, another betrayal, won't make anything right.

Opinion: Mainstream feminists are backing the 'care amendment' - this is a mistake

Dr Rosaleen McDonagh says the mainstream women’s movement is unwittingly reinforcing patriarchal norms by supporting the vote on 8 March.

Good to see even more groups like this coming out to support a #VoteYesNo on Friday.

I’m glad people are starting to listen to carers and disability groups and are also listening to human rights lawyers and changing their minds.

Justice for Magdalenes group will be voting no in the care referendum. Here's why

The only one good thing I can say about the upcoming #Referendum24 is that our political parties are now suddenly talking about disability rights.

Of course it’s too little too late.

The decisions to support the #VoteYes would never have happened if the policy makers within the parties included PWD in their decision making but from what I can see all the emphasis was on gender and not 1) Who is being cared for 2) Why and 3) Some of them are also disabled women.
