Just voted #VoteYesYes
Polling station fairly busy here in Walkinstown
@Anitambyrne couldn't agree more, I would #VoteYesYes if I could, but there's so much work still pending, inside and outside Irish homes

The reality is that whether the care in the home referendum passes or not, most caring work and reproductive labour will still be done by women in the home and most of it unpaid.

Changing the wording of it in our constitution means fuck all unless our society reflects that change and really embraces what true equality means.

All the men voting #VoteYesYes today REALLY need to up their game or your vote means nothing and is just performative lip service.

Opinion: The care referendum is problematic, paternalistic and downright irresponsible

Dr Orla Tinsley on why she will be voting No in the care referendum on Friday.

TheJournal.ie

This Friday, there will be two referendums. I will #VoteYesYes in both to:

👨‍👧‍👦 Include families based on other "durable relationships" — like civil partnerships, cohabiting couples and one-parent families.

👩‍💼 Remove outdated language about the life and duties of a woman in the home.

We’ve moved on a long way since the constitution was written in 1937. The changes being proposed are about that.

"The care amendment and single issue feminism" by Prof Siobhán Mullally.

Mullally is brilliant. The provisions of Article 42 were wrong to begin with in 1937, and a betrayal; and a new wrong Article in 2024, another betrayal, won't make anything right.

Opinion: Mainstream feminists are backing the 'care amendment' - this is a mistake

Dr Rosaleen McDonagh says the mainstream women’s movement is unwittingly reinforcing patriarchal norms by supporting the vote on 8 March.
