Women’s scoop neck Rewild and give nature a chance T-shirt

A T-shirt from our Scientist and Philosopher range. Nature is under attack as the human population shows little sign of stabilising. During the last two centuries or so since the start of what humanity calls progress of the industrial revolution we have grown from 1 billion in 1800 humans to 7.79 billion in 2020. We have hacked away at forests and ecosystems with no thought to sustainability or the future of ourselves or other species and ecosystems. Controversially, this time is called the Anthropocene, the sixth great extinction in this planet’s long history. We need to learn to live within the bounds of the finite planet and that means moving humans out of places and turning them back into wilderness. Why? Because we are too many and we have taken too much.

Check out how these products are made using organic cotton. We need to live in not just a sustainable way but one that causes the least environmental loading on the planet. You can even send these items back to be made into new things when you have finished with them. (S&P)

Rewild and give nature a chance – tote bag

This is the first Scientist and Philosopher Rewild bag. It is printed on an organic cotton bag so hopefully lighter environmental loading than many other materials.

Excellent idea! Kick the welfare ranchers off the dole and eat the “slow elk” (cows) to get them off the land. Why are ranchers protected from the “free market”? #cowboymyth #rewild more #beavers more #wolves

TODAY! #PeconicNY - #EnvironmentalExpo and #RepairCafé at Southold Recreation Center

May 2 @ 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Peconic Recreation Center
920 Peconic Lane
Peconic, NY 11958 United States

"Southold Town is holding an Environmental Expo and Repair Café with the North Fork Environmental Council (#NFEC) on Saturday, May 2 from Noon to 4 p.m. at the town’s Peconic Lane Recreation Center.

" 'The NFEC has been coordinating repair cafés twice a year, and that will be incorporated into the event. We will also have a #composter sale pickup at the same time,' Ms. Van Eysden told the Town Board at the March 10 work session.

"At the NFEC’s Repair Cafés, the public can bring their household items — including small appliances, clothing, toys and bicycles to be repaired, and their knives to be sharpened.

" 'It’s a great community event, with neighbors helping neighbors to make things work again, with the added bonus of keeping those things out of the waste stream,' said Margaret deCruz, the NFEC Repair Café chair.

"Southold’s Waste Management department has been participating in a discounted compost bin and #RainBarrel sale program for the past year. The sale, open to Southold Town residents (other neighboring towns also have similar programs) is currently underway, online here, and residents can pick up their bins and barrels at the Expo.

" 'The reduction of food waste from backyard composting is a critical component in solving the regional solid waste crisis currently facing #LongIsland,' said Southold Town Solid Waste Coordinator Nick Krupski.

"Numerous environmental organizations will also have tables at the event. Compost coaches from the Long Island Organics council will give demonstrations and offer tips on how best to compost at home, and organizations ranging from Group for the East End to the #PeconicBaykeeper, #PeconicEstuary Partnership, #ReWild North Fork and UpSculpt will also offere information and inspiration on how to preserve our local natural resources."

The proposals to restore & #rewild wetlands and forests along Europe's eastern borders are excellent examples of win-win-win investments in #defence, #nature / #biodiversity & #sustainability. There may be others. I can think of remote sensing as one example. bsky.app/profile/jmko...
