Started in evergreen forest, uphill into beech forest, down between dunes covered in beech, out into the open dunes, to a bog where I spent 20 mins harvesting cranberries, then back along pretty pond. #hiking #NationalSeashore #ProvinceLands #PTown #getoutside

A final #foraging count from one week in the dunes: 1.5 gal (5.6 L) of wild cranberries, but zero, as in not a single beach plum (whereas last year in the same location I harvested 16 lb of beach plums). Reindeer lichen in the dunes. First, the typical colony, in the sand under an oak tree. Then a little closer look and we see that wonderful but strange green color. Finally, very close, it looks extraterrestrial, and wow, there are little purple dots deep inside that colony. #lichen #dunes #ProvinceLands #PtownArtists #GetOutside
