#DailyZiggy Ziggy was ecstatic that we made it to the Cape just before sunset. After being a perfect angel for a 6-hour drive, he was more than ready to release some of that manic energy. #DogsOfBlueSky #CapeCod

Yet another gorgeous day today on #CapeCod. After doing some resistance training at home, I hiked around a long peninsula that had the open ocean on one side and a bay on the other. Stuck mostly on the shoreline with views like this. A total of 120 feet (37m) elevation gain in 5 miles (8km)! 🤣🤣

Clouds started rolling in and I didn't want to risk getting wet. So I decided to skip PB Boulangerie again. I stopped to eat a full bar and a gel. Temperature was cooler, and I had more than enough water to make it back. The rest of the hilly part wasn't as hard as I expected. I think the 30 mm tires and lower tire pressure made it less miserable riding on the bumpy Old Country Rd. I didn't waste my energy sprinting the mostly flat and straight 6A from Truro to Ptown like I always had been doing before :)

It was only 98.4 miles when I got back to my place, so I had to loop around the town a bit. I knew there'd be a lot of traffic on Commercial St. The reason I didn't take Bradford is because of the nasty hill at Prince St where I could be easily blocked by a car not knowing what to do / yielding to pedestrians as that is a busy intersection and I had to unmount / mount on a steep hill. But the part of Commercial St past the Coast Guard station was also busy with several cars not knowing what to do. I got really upset because I really wanted to get 100 miles done.

Finally it was 100 when I got to the parking lot of Herring Cove Beach. and I turned around and take Bradford back to my place. What a day!

Finally! I visited the elbow of Cape Cod - Chatham!

My first ever 100+ miles solo ride. Mark Pasnik (a new friend I made this weekend!) sent me off at Ptown, and took a lovely photo of me on my bike.

I did ride with two guys - Allen and Jesse from Truro till Wellfleet. It was great while it lasted. Jesse was fast and strong, while Allen pointed out turns and gravel sections. It was a breeze following Jesse's wheel. While we were talking, a stupid squirrel ran across the road, barely missed by front wheel, and got caught between Jess's wheels. Luckily Jesse didn't crash, and we made some jokes out of it. When it was my turn to pull, Jesse was on my wheel, but Allen fell behind. So Jesse stopped in Wellfleet center to wait for him, and I went on my way.

I felt great and strong at mile 24 where PB Boulangerie is, so I decided to just have a gel instead of stopping for coffee / pastry. CCRT was a nice and easy way to cover some distance. I reached the tiny bike path roundabout in no time, and started heading to Chatham. I did feel a bit fatigue going into Chatham center, as there're more hills. But the beautiful Chatham Light and Coast Guard station made up for it. I had half a bar and went my way to my first stop at mile 52 - Three Fins coffee roasters.

It is a new shop and the sitting area is originally a pool. The coffee was great, but the chocolate croissant was disappointing. It was very dry and a little chewy. I didn't finish it, instead I ate the rest of the bar and went on my way, figuring I'd stop by PB Boulangerie on the way back.

Some new pavement in Chatham / Brewster was amazing to ride on. So smooth!

Pretty uneventful all the way to Wellfleet. I saw a cyclist on CCRT with the exact same bike as me - even the same color! I said hi and quickly passed him. I wanted to cover easy distance as quickly as I could. I stayed on the drop as much as I could to save some watts.
