The best movie from 1947. Perhaps the best movie made in the 40s. Feel free to discuss. No discussion is valid when it comes to acknowledging the power ànd sheer beauty of Powell and Pressburger's Black Narcissus. It's possible this isn't your cup of tea, fair enough. Cinema is a subjective art, like all arts. But it's on screen magic from beginning to ending. Intensity goes to 11, hidden sensualities are just wow and all women were magnetic. (Kathleen Byron! In a strange other England, a train on its way to #Canterbury pulls into the station. When Alison disembarks a stranger pours #glue in her hair. She's the 11th, the policeman said. It's the glue man, the townsfolk know. Like the pilgrims in #Chaucer's poem, the travellers journey towards the closure of this mystifying case.

The first collaboration of Powell and Pressburger (screenpaly).
It's actually Conrad Veidt's show. He is excellent as the German U-boat commander who infiltrated into the British Naval base, but fell into the trap.
