In the 1990s Frederic Jameson referred to postmodernism as the "cultural logic of late capitalism".
Now I think it may be more than a cultural phenomenon and the "logic" we are experiencing is "reductio ad absurdum capitalism"
(plan to look at this in my next book)
Ms Lepore has stolen my heart with this piece
'In 2016, Sam Altman, the chief executive of OpenAI, read James Madison’s notes on the Constitutional Convention ... “We’re planning a way to allow wide swaths of the world to elect representatives to a new governance board,” Mr. Altman told The New Yorker. “Because if I weren’t in on this I’d be, like, ‘Why do these fuckers get to decide what happens to me?’” ... No such world-governance board was ever established. There has been no A.I. constitutional convention. These, er, fellows, are still deciding what happens to the rest of us'
One thing "What we do in the Shadows" made me realize, is that on a cultural level Fisher was right with his assertion of the endless postmodern present (well at least up until now) and that the upper strata of the bourgeoisie is in a kind of sameness through repetition. Just an endless row of sensless affective comodification of an emulation of the social.

Nearly unknown to Western analysts, the concepts described in Project Russia increasingly reflect the events we see playing out on a daily basis: a war over competing worldviews with capture of media, the use of podcasts and other alternative media to challenge the mainstream press, and the emergence of a new class of unelected 'elite' demagogues who seem to be taking control of global affairs. This episode analyzes the four original Project Russia books and offers 'deep dives' into specific areas of the texts."—@davetroy

In the early 1990s, two Russian artists named Vitaly Komar and Alexander Melamid hired a market research firm to survey the public on what they wanted in a work of art. Across 11 countries they then set about painting a piece that reflected the results. Each piece was intended to be a unique a colla
