Spent the day trying to get #ProxMox GPU passthrough to work on my #Apple Mac Pro Trashcan hypervisor but all I got was blank output, or host console output, even tho the guest VM saw the PCI device. Can't figure it out. I think the dual GPU doesn't work in my favour. Guest system was #popos for gaming. I tried passing both through but them sometimes the VM couldn't find one of them. Any hints? #selfhosting #homelab

#PopOS #Cosmic had been going okayish for the last couple months but something recently regressed pretty bad and is making me crazy again. It's hard-locking my laptop multiple times a day, and my Bluetooth mouse doesn't work anymore despite it finding and connecting to it. Really feels like alpha software again.

Just installed the latest updates and will continue doing so until it stabilizes. Maybe someday I'll learn to not update it if it's not broke 🙄

After some frustration yesterday, I am now very satisfied with #PopOS. I successfully have it skipping the login screen and opening Steam automatically on boot. I don’t have it launching into Big Picture Mode as it’s annoying to get out of if I want to do something on the desktop but with a press of the Xbox button on my controller it jumps right into Big Picture Mode.

I was having an issue with certain games not entering full screen properly yesterday but that isn’t a problem today for some reason. When I exit a game, Big Picture Mode is windowed instead of full screen but I actually think I prefer that.

Ultimately, I can get in and out of games without needing a keyboard/mouse, which was my main goal, so I’m happy! And I really like how the new COSMIC desktop environment of Pop!_OS looks, especially after I figured out how to customizing it to my liking.

I successfully installed #PopOS! At first I couldn’t get Brave or Persona 5 Royal to work and realized I needed to manually install a specific Nvidia for my GTX 1080. After doing that, everyone seems to be working great!

I couldn’t figure out how to get #PopOS installed on the 180 GB of free space I was able to get by shrinking my Windows install.

Since I also have a 465 GB HDD installed on this PC, I cleared it out and I am now transferring the contents of my C drive to it so I devote my entire 1 TB SSD to Pop!_OS.

This has been a worthwhile project already as now my ROM collection is much more centralized since a lot of games were on this HDD that I rarely access.
