I recently stumbled upon a short poem I wrote in high school. I titled it "Flatline":

All your breathless little whisperings
The ones I held so dear
All your gentle little laughs —
Oh, they'll never disappear

You leaned over and you promised me,
"I'll always be right here" —
Oh crushing words, a flatline is
The only sound I hear.
