2. Retrofit the 7.5" #olpc screen into the #PocketReform. Aside from modifying the screen bezel, working out the connector may be a lot of fun.
Alternatively, use the 7" #PixelQi screen (https://liliputing.com/first-look-at-pixel-qis-7-inch-display-new-netbooks-tablets/), if it can be sourced (at all).
(Only if the dimensions work out - meaning, no complete case redesign.)

A decade ago, the #OLPC had a screen that could work in 2 modes: normal LCD with colour, and low-power sun-readable monochrome. The techno was by #PixelQi. That company tanked but apparently https://www.tripuso.com/index.html is still selling 7 inches screens with the techno. Anyone bought some from them? Do you know of any other tech that is similar (fast color & e-ink-like monochrome)?

@gernot @max I wished there were some #PixelQi panels in 720p60 in production but sadly #3M only acquires tech firms to hoard the tech, not to actually build and sell it.

First day out in the sun with my "new" refurbished Pixel Qi laptop that I bought from PCDOODLE on Ebay.

I am very happy with this! This feels like finally catching a white whale I've been chasing most of my adult life. To actually sit outside in sunny weather and work. Especially now that my dog is preggo and can't walk too much, she just hangs out under the table while I do my thing.

#transflective screens are (were) great!

I still have my XO-1 from the #OLPC program (give one, get one) and for a few years - not recently - it was my preferred laptop for the garden.

But I see #pixelQI didn't make it...
