@Larhanya I find reading bright letters on a dark background to be pretty straining on my eyes.

I also tend to have a light on in the room and turn down overall screen brightness, to further reduce eye strain.
@LunaDragofelis @Larhanya maybe an #eInk / #Mirasol or #PixelQi (#transflective) screen works best for you?

@kkarhan @LunaDragofelis

To be fair, part of that is because a bunch of idiots decide to just slap #FFFFFF on top of #000000 (and think that's a good idea) instead of say #CDCDCD on top of #282828 or #191919

@topher @LunaDragofelis personally I use #000000 (black) as backgeound and then #00FF00 (bright green) & #FF8000 (amber) as text.

Within the context of a comprehensive graphical environment, applied system-wide? Or more for like virtual terminals and document reader modes?

That would be overwhelmingly harsh for me I think pretty much in general, but especially if my eyes were adjusted and working within an environment with many windows open, and one has such extreme contrast ratios against everything else I have open.

@topher @LunaDragofelis granted, I use it on websites (i.e. https://os1337.com ) and terminal applications.

You way want to consider something less agressive like the "Wildberries" [dark] Theme in VScodium...
