Buy-to-lease should live in a second tier market, that only exists when buy-to-reside isn't taking priority.
If houses aren't on the market for more than a few weeks it's far too overheated. Our local advertisers are basically publishing the majority of housing stock as "Under Offer", but if you watch closely a "For Lease" sign often pops up in the following weeks.
Computer-generated video voiceovers on Amazon reviews might be used to taylor accents or overcome language barriers. These sound like altered human voices to my ear, uncanny.
It seems like a failure as a sales aid, but that's likely not the point if Amazon rewards reviewers for quantity and frequency.

@jk This perverse incentive wouldn't be nearly as strong if there were a way to electronically pay a website's operator an amount on the order of 0.25 EUR or USD. Instead, payment processors' fee per transaction incentivized a package deal: buy one article for $3 bundled with a month of access to all other articles on that site (and no other sites). Ad targeting tech promised a workaround for lack of micropayments, but its perverse incentives were even worse.

"When the IMO issued its new regulations, says Nøklebye, shipping companies essentially had two options: switch from the default heavy fuel oil to more expensive low-sulfur fuel, or install a ship scrubber—a device that sprays ocean water onto exhaust gases before they leave the engine, capturing the harmful SOX gases as a sulfuric acid solution."

Have you heard the theoretical origin story of the Cobra Effect, which is a Perverse Incentive?
In colonized India, the Brits were concerned about the vast population of cobras. So they offered a bounty on them.
Indians gamed the system, breeding cobras and selling them for the bounty. When the Brits found out, breeders released them into the wild. This inadvertent effect is the Cobra Effect.

Hamas and #Likud have a #perverseIncentive to keep the war in the #MiddleEast going, at least for now.
NEITHER wants it to be over. #Netanyahu has been signaling transparently that he wants #Biden to lose because #Trump would give #Bibi more latitude in “clearing” #Gaza upon his re-election.
Many independent voters in US also want that outcome because #US & #UK also want to put pressure on Netanyahu ➡️ https://mastodon.social/@Alon/111852962999108976

Both #Netanyahu and #Haniyeh have a #perverseIncentive to maintain #permanentStateOfWar in #Gaza and both are collectively responsible, with #Palestinians being the losers. #inTheirName
ICC prosecutor said that he had “reasonable grounds to believe” that #Sinwar, #Deif and #Haniyeh were responsible for “#warCrimes and #crimesAgainstHumanity” — including “the killing of hundreds of #Israeli civilians in attacks perpetrated by #Hamas.”

As for what I believe:
There are no heroes in this war.
#Hamas and #Netanyahu have a #perverseIncentive to maintain a #permanentStateOfWar and #Palestinians are the sore losers to let them fight #inTheirName only.

The crime was still cheating people out of 10 zeros.
If after a bank robbery, all of the cash is recovered, the robbery is not nullified
If punishment were inversely commensurate with amount recovered, the #perverseIncentive would be to hit big, return 99%, and then serve only 1% of the sentence, because even 1% of a ridiculously large amount initially robbed would be large enough to live a cushy life after a small (commuted) sentence, no?
