I'd be willing to pay a buck to read an article (or blog entry, or whatever), pretty much anytime, or at least way more often than I'm willing to subscribe to something. Like, if there was a no-hassle button that would send 1 dollar to the article creator and give me access, that would be ideal.

Some investigation reveals this has been tried many times and nobody can make it work (profitable to implement as a service) for some reason.

While I really would like a useful #micropayment system (not a blockchain!) so that I can pay for web content directly, the increasing sponsor/AD system in youtube/nebula/etc. videos is sometimes endearing. If I had spare time, I'd make a video consisting of just all the amazing seqways to the ad. Like the Minute Physics video on draining the sea, which cut to how the media would cover such an event and how you need... a site to tell you the biases. Or the Astrum video on circular things seen from space which asks if your education hasn't completed the circle, then maybe you need...
