Unexpectedly got impressed with the anime I started watching on a whim. Overtake! (オーバーテイク!) (2023)

No idea how it got onto my list since I haven't seen anyone talk about it and I have literally zero interest in F4 racing or car-related stuff. My limit is getting a driver's license and forgetting all about it for years. But from the synopsis it may seem that this show is about racing. Well, technically it is, but in reality it isn't. Its focus is on people. And what a focus that is! I must say I was captivated, both by the racing enthusiasts, but more importantly by the photographer's story. That whole introduction of the topic of personal responsibility when it comes to something public was great. Acceptance, will to pursue, self-belief and belief in others. One of the episodes made me reach for paper tissues. Really good example of balanced storytelling and well-written characters. I haven't become a fan of racing after it, but that wasn't the point
