A quotation from Judith Martin

There are plenty of people who say, “We don’t care about etiquette, but we can’t stand the way so-and-so behaves, and we don’t want him around!” Etiquette doesn’t have the great sanctions that the law has. But the main sanction we do have is in not dealing with these people and isolating them because their behavior is unbearable.

May I have a moment of your attention, please.

It's about cars. I own one, and I know that for some of you that makes me a vile creature deserving of ostracization.

Here's a revelation. My boyfriend has anxiety. His anxiety is such that taking public transportation scares him. So much so that his other boyfriend...

"Another boyfriend? 😱 "

Yes, we're polyamorous. So, as I was saying, his other boyfriend and me have to drive him around. This would not be possible if we did not have cars.

Think about this, and the consequence of your stance.

There's no "snapping out of it" for my boyfriend. Maybe one day he'll be able to manage his anxiety, but we're not there yet.

This is how the aspersions you cast on anyone who owns a car can end up being #ableist. You think you're on the right team, but from my perspective, you ain't.

Have a nice day.

I think the #trauma which drew me to #Neoplatonism was #Ostracization.

Like, do you even Hypatia, bro?

Synesius knew what was up.

Do you?

Valuing truth over conformity | Embrace Autism

I—like many other autistic people—am puzzled by the realization that people, in general, don’t seem all that concerned with truth. Why is that, and why are autistic people more concerned with it?
