Heinrich Lüders (1869–1943) was a German #orientalist and scholar of 'Indology', most famous for his research on the #Turfan manuscripts. He was a teacher to Chen Yinke #陳寅恪 while the latter studied in Berlin. Apparently, he also invented canned kale (in 'strammer Packung').

@[email protected] Eh, nobody has to like everything. #Firefly manged to use a lot of #orientalist trappings (fashion, casual Chinese phrases) without having any actual Asian actors and a #western motif that has our sympathetic protagonists basically map to the Confederates after the US Civil War. There's also some weird stuff around the pseudo-geisha character. I could see any of that feeling off. (I mean I'm a fan but I don't need anyone else to share my taste.)
