Teenage Me: "So, in the 2020s is the world a corporate dystopia with cool looking motorcycles and everyone is constantly connected to a global information network?"

Time Travelling Me: [Dragging hands down own face] "I mean ... yeah. Sure. But it's so much fucking stupider than you're imagining it to be."

I tooted a few weeks ago that I loved #scotrail trains with a sense of humour (had found one idling at the station with the destination shown as "chillin'" ). Yesterday I spotted another wee example which gave me a giggle as I was waiting for the doors to open. Remember those areas in corridors that used to say "private"? Well now they say this! Keep it up Scotrail, this is a smart way to build a brand .
massive layoffs just after forcing everyone to move back to where their assigned office is located is…a choice. telling people they are fired by email is…a choice. telling people they are fired via email while they’re in a whole other state for a client meeting is…a choice.

The Paradox of Tolerance disappears if you look at tolerance, not as a moral standard, but as a social contract.

If someone does not abide by the terms of the contract, then they are not covered by it.

In other words: The intolerant are not following the rules of the social contract of mutual tolerance.

Since they have broken the terms of the contract, they are no longer covered by the contract, and their intolerance should NOT be tolerated.

[inspired by “Tolerance is not a moral precept”]

Reporters will continue reporting straight-faced that the GOP's top concern is "the deficit" even as their openly-stated #1 top policy demand is to add $100B to deficit by cutting IRS enforcement.
