Last weekend, I went to Silver Falls State Park. They had a raptor presentation, and these are four owls I got to see up close and learn about. They are fascinating birds. (All of these owls are rescues and are unable to be re-released into the wild for various reasons.)

@loren said to wake up and post birds, so that's what I'm doing! A couple of the birds I saw (and was able to photograph) on my first visit to William L. Finley National Wildlife Refuge last month: A Great Blue Heron and a Hooded Merganser.

I need to go back, especially since I heard (but didn't see) several owls and a pileated woodpecker. I would go today if I could figure out what the weather was doing...

This super-territorial male Anna's Hummingbird likes to lord over the feeder in my side yard. I saw him even try to chase a squirrel away!

Golden-crowned Sparrow at Mt. Pisgah in Eugene, Oregon (September 29, 2023).

I was at Mt. Pisgah for the Mushroom Festival and decided to hike around afterwards. The best pictures I got this day were of a few of these sparrows that were hanging out near the junction of two trails.
