Saw my first hummingbird of the year, and it promptly decided to shun my feeder after tasting the contents so I've dumped the rest of the food and made fresh, and thoroughly cleaned the feeder. I think maybe the extreme heat this week made it go off earlier than usual. Oof.

They're here in Michigan!

"Sightings of Michigan’s native ruby-throated hummingbird have been reported near Luna Pier, Romulus, Howell, Wyoming, West Olive, Cedar Springs, Muskegon and Grant, as of Wednesday, April 15."

I'm not putting up my hummingbird feeder until today's storms move through.

With the purple martins showing up today, I am reminded that the hummingbirds are also on the way.

The map shows that ruby-throated hummingbirds have been seen 120 miles (190 km) south of me. So, they could be here soon!
