There were actually quite a few orchids growing there on southern Öland near Mörbylånga.
But I liked how this one could be photographed as if it had the whole landscape to itself.

Deep inside the Rösselkärret nature reserve on Öland lie the remains of Österskogs ödeby, an abandoned village slowly disappearing back into the landscape.
Nature has reclaimed almost everything by now. Most ruins are hidden beneath trees, moss, and undergrowth. You can walk right past them without noticing.
