Out riding for a long bike tour today, I decided to visit an old natural castle (“fornborg”) from around 400 ac. How great was my surprise when I discovered this Sparassis crispa (blomkålsopp) at the top 😳
I have never come across it before, and because I am out cycling I have to leave it for today.
Will it be here tomorrow?

#geocaching keeps taking me to new stunning places not far from home. This time a stunning #fornborg only 7 km south. Best views I have had in a while

My last pictures from Öland, before we left for Stockholm. I absolutely loved the week we spend on the island and I can't wait to go back some time. We visited so many beautiful historical sites, but Ismantorps borg was probably my favourite. It is the ruins of a ringfort that was mostly used between the third and seventh century. It is beautifully located in a forest and when we were there we were the only ones, which made it much easier to walk around and imagine what life back then could have been like. The large dead tree certainly helped to create a bit of a mysterious atmosphere as well😄

The fortress has a diameter of about 125 meters and although the remains of the structures within the walls are quite low, it was still very easy to make out the different houses. Apparently there are more than 90 of them.
