I've been experimenting with SSDs in NVRs for some time now. I put a 2 terabyte WD Red in a Ubiquiti CK2+ and it's been running with 8 camera setup for 27500 hours now, which is around 3+ years.
A lot of people said the drive would wear our almost instantly with all the writing happening, but I've been monitoring the SMART values for the drive's wear and after those 3 years we are at 91% of expected life left. At this pace it will most likely outlive the device, that is actually pretty impressive on its own as it's one of the very early CloudKey 2+ units ever released.
It lived with an actual HDD until the LiPo battery inside decided to become a spicy pillow and I had to take the thing apart. The HDD got upgraded at that point as well.
A year or two after that Ubiquiti released their own SSD based variant, so they also concluded a SSD will probably work in long term as well.
