Geniatech APC888 Edge AI Box PC is powered by an NXP i.MX 95 Cortex-A55/M7/M33 applications processor, and features an M.2 socket for AI accelerator from Hailo, MemryX, DeepX, or Kinara (now NXP). The system comes with 4GB LPDDR5 and 32GB eMMC flash by default, features two Gigabit Ethernet ports, optional WiFi, Bluetooth, cellular, and GNSS connectivity, and two USB 3.0 ports. It's available in commercial and industrial temperature grades. The 'AI accelerator' module @mechasystems are testing for the Mecha Comet is made by the militaristic Israeli AI firm Hailo [1,2].
The chairperson of Hailo was formerly president and CEO of the zionist Bank Leumi which contribute significantly to the decades-long colonisation and occupation of Palestinian land, and contributes significantly to Israels ongoing genocide of palestinians [3-5].
Bank Leumi is on the divestment shortlist of the BDS movement [6,7].

Supporting and legitimising genocide is not cool of anybody. That includes producers of an otherwise very cool little Linux handheld device.

Raspberry Pi sent me a sample of their AI HAT+ 2 generative AI accelerator based on Hailo-10H for review. The 40 TOPS AI accelerator is advertised as being suitable for LLMs (Large Language Models) and VLM (Vision Language Models), while delivering about the same performance as the first-generation AI HAT+ (Hailo-8) for AI vision/computer vision models. After going through an unboxing, I'll assemble the AI HAT+ 2 to a Raspberry Pi 5 with 2GB of RAM fitted with a Raspberry Pi Camera Module 3, before quickly checking whether AI vision models work as expected, and spending more time on testing LLM and VLM samples.
