My #NaNoWiMo has been a disaster. I'm thinking of switching things up by trying my own take of Robert E. Howard's "The Halls of the Dead". Some sword-and-sorcery pastiche may be what it takes to get my writing brain going again.

I utterly failed at #NaNoWiMo this year. I took a novel from 6k to 11k, which was 45k short of the goal.

I was feeling really down about this and was embarrassed when a writer freind asked how it went. I didn’t sugar coat it. I explained I only managed 5,000 words…. And she was impressed.

I started feeling better about myself.

Then I remembered.

My name is Chris Cutler and I'm a pantser. To help me kick the habit I started #NaNoWiMo with 17 monomyth headings and proceeded to pants my way from one section to the next. Does this make me a planner?
PS currently a smidgen under 40k so confident I will reach 50 by the end of the month, but the MS is projected to touch down at around 80.

Should be #writing but spent the morning making banners and adding pics to my books on Wattpad.

I'm looking forward to when I serialize the #NaNoWiMo project since I'll get to add old 80s alternative links/tunes :).

While many (most?) of you are pumping out verbiage for #NaNoWiMo, I've spent the past couple of weeks re-re-revising the first two pages of a brand new novel. Next big goal is to finish the chapter. By then I'll know what I'm dealing with.

Hoping to have a decent draft by next year's festivities.

Per Samuel Beckett, I can't go on. I'll go on.

Happy #WIPwednesday fellow #writers. What are you working I’m on? Are you doing #NaNoWiMo ? I’m using the month to polish an old MS to pitch. My writing group thinks the time has finally come for it. Sad that stories sometimes need to be on trend but at least old work can have a shot years later, right?
