so, uh. If I’m trying to find someone on Mastodent, is there any way to search by name, or by username, or name of their blog, across the maze of federated twisty passages to reconnect with them?

or is it (as I suspect) “know their True Name or GTFO”?

I appreciate that Mastodon opens up a much wider international feed that OldSite ever seemed to. But curiously, I'm also stumbling on FAR more close (in a regional sense, most are in #PDX, about 100 miles away, but the closest major city) people of possible interest that I ever did than in the Other Place. Just followed another one.
I don't know. This could be sheer chance, but it's interesting.
