so, uh. If I’m trying to find someone on Mastodent, is there any way to search by name, or by username, or name of their blog, across the maze of federated twisty passages to reconnect with them?

or is it (as I suspect) “know their True Name or GTFO”?

@hanlsp Text searches seem to turn up results within your own instance and your own posts but not much beyond that? If someone joined a small instance and hasn't had their name propagated via posts across instances it will be unlikely you will find them.

@hanlsp Pretty sure you're limited to True Name or mutual connections, unless some kind of googling can still get somewhere without a flood of chatbot-generated results clogging up the attempt..
