Last night’s moon. I took the time that I had to test out Lunar tracking with my setup, it went really well! I did notice that the tracking was slightly off by the end, but the real kicker is that I have to remember to turn off auto-display rotation on my camera! #moon #moonlight #night #nature #luna #sky #space #moonphotography #nightsky #astronomy #moonlovers #nightphotography #astrophotography #naturephotography #sonycamera #sonya7rv #sony100400gm
The moon, hanging in the blue of the day – as if undecided whether it belongs to night or still to morning. A silent witness to the journey of light and shadow.

The focuser on my Celestron was unfortunately broken, so I made the most of my Canon and a 400mm lens with a doubler, capturing 5,763 frames and 152GB of data.
I was able to take pictures only at the end of totality. The Sun had just set, and the Moon was very low on the horizon, with quite some haze.
This is my first total eclipse since I started this hobby, so I’m nevertheless happy with the result despite the image quality.

🌕🌑 Blood Moon – Sept 7, 2025 🌑🌕

I had never seen a blood moon or a lunar eclipse before so I decided to change that on this day. With low expectations I grabbed my gear and walked to a nearby field around 7:30 PM hoping to finally witness and capture it with my camera.

After finding a good spot, I set everything up and started waiting… and waiting. Behind me the sun was setting beautifully but in the east where the moon was supposed to rise a thick blanket of clouds covered the sky. My hopes slowly faded while I got eaten alive by mosquitoes and the air grew colder by the minute.

At some point I took a phone photo of the cloudy sky just to document the situation and that’s when I suddenly saw it. The moon. Half hidden in the clouds. Blood red. I immediately turned my camera towards it but I only had about 5 minutes before the eclipse started to fade and the sunlight hit the moon again turning it gray.

Because the moon was still barely visible and my focus was off at first, I only managed to capture one photo of the blood moon. I had planned to wait for the full moon later on but the cold got to me. Fog started rolling in, I was soaked and my gear was soaked so I „gave up“. But honestly, I walked home frozen but happy.

The next day, I edited the photos and I’m pretty satisfied with how it turned out. It was such a magical experience to see it with my own eyes and through the lens. Definitely worth it🌕💜

Great pictures. A fun fact: Earthshine is the faint glow on the dark, unlit portion of the Moon, caused by sunlight reflecting off earth and then bouncing off the moon back to our eyes. That’s where I got the name for my macro photography endeavor, because I like the word Earthshine.
@FlashF1R3 ohh I love this funfact, thanks for sharing!🥹

🤗 Yeah, night time astrophotography takes some preparations. Especially if not done in a tower. Even then, bring extra layers. Because of no sun, lack of activity, and dew most people drastically under dress for the temperatures.

And at ground level there are the bugs. Treat your clothes with permethrin and let them dry before wearing. Treated clothing lasts a few washings. Exposed skin, use bug spray.

@Eka_FOOF_A@spacey.space Haha, yes, I noticed. I had put on another jacket that I thought would be too warm, but in the end I was glad I didn't wear the thinner one because it was getting reallyyyy cold. I'll also remember the insects next time! Thanks for the tips!
