Most of us donate clothing we no longer want. But next time my sheets or towels get threadbare or stained, instead of piling them in the garage to use as drop cloths (for that once in six years I actually paint!), I’ll donate them to my local animal shelter. They are always in need of bedding for animals. #microaction #animalshelter #donate #bedding
Had a screaming infant and a stressed parents across the aisle on my flight today. Very disruptive for everyone. Until an older woman gently offered the parents some words of support, encouragement, and gentle advice. Calmed the parents, which calmed the baby, which calmed us all. Lend a hand when you can. #baby #airplane #parents #microaction
I am an introvert — a very strong introvert actually — and yet I also yearn to connect with other people. I am happiest when someone initiates conversation with me — I’m am always-receptive and often-enthusiastic respondent, but I struggle to start conversations on my own. So if you are comfortable saying something to a stranger, go ahead. There are many who appreciate the opportunity to talk to you. #introvert #extrovert #microaction #conversation
Healing the world thru microactions, cont.: We all exist in our physical world together, so the next time you get weather you enjoy (hit, cool, sunny, overcast) head to a nearby park. Walk, run, bike, skate, board, or just sit on a bench. Nature replenishes us, and we can find community there too, whether or not we talk to anyone else. #microaction #park #Nature #healing
Healing the world thru microactions, cont.: Next time I’m at a stadium and have something to eat or drink I’ll carry out my trash. I know they pay people to pick up after us, but lightening anyone’s load not only takes a little pressure off them but it also makes me feel better. #stadiums #trash #helping #microaction
Healing the world via microactions, cont.: Next time I’m walking to work I’ll bring a bag with me to pick up whatever trash I see. Trash distracts us from the beautiful world all around us, so getting rid of it helps us all enjoy our environment just a little bit more. #microaction #environment #trash #beautiful
Healing the world through microactions, cont.: Next time I encounter someone who seems unhoused or struggling with social integration I’ll smile and acknowledge them by saying hello. People everywhere want to be seen regardless of their circumstance, and I think we all feel better when we share a connection no matter how small or seemingly inconsequential. #microaction #Unhoused #homeless #Dignity #connection
Healing the world through microactions, cont.: Next time I visit the grocery store or Target or anywhere else with a self-checkout option I’ll go through the lane with a cashier. Just to thank them for helping me. Everyone appreciates a little gratitude. And the knowledge that they helped someone today. #microaction #grocery #selfcheckout #gratitude
Healing the world thru microactions, cont.: Next time I’m at the grocery store and see an item in the wrong place, I’ll move it to where it should be. The stock people may not ever realize it, but I like feeling like I’ve lightened someone’s load. #microaction #grocery #workers #helping
