What WPS News Is Not

By Cliff Potts, CSO, and Editor-in-Chief of WPS News
Baybay City, Leyte, Philippines — April 29, 2026

Not Advocacy

WPS News is not an advocacy outlet.

The newsroom does not campaign for political parties, movements, or policies. It does not ask readers to support a cause or adopt a position. Reporting is focused on documenting events, decisions, and consequences as they occur.

Readers are expected to draw their own conclusions.

Not Entertainment

WPS News is not designed to entertain. Headlines are kept short and direct. Language avoids exaggeration. Stories are written to be understood, not shared for emotional effect.

Visuals may be engaging, but reporting remains factual. Attention is not the goal. Clarity is.

Not Reaction Media

WPS News does not publish speculation during moments of uncertainty. Speed is not prioritized over verification. When information cannot be confirmed, publication waits.

This approach reduces error and avoids adding confusion during tense situations.

Not a Foreign Voice

Although WPS News is read internationally, it is not written from a Western or foreign point of view. Reporting is grounded in Philippine conditions and regional realities.

The newsroom does not assume outside perspectives should guide Filipino understanding or decision-making.

Not Neutral About Facts

WPS News does not claim neutrality toward facts. Verified information is presented plainly, even when it is uncomfortable or inconvenient.

Accuracy takes precedence over balance when evidence is clear.

What This Means

By defining what WPS News is not, readers can better understand what it is. This publication exists to inform, document, and preserve information related to issues affecting the Philippines and the region.

It does not seek loyalty. It seeks understanding.

Ars Technica bravely unveils their AI newsroom #policy, which is essentially a list of things they promise not to do, like a child announcing they won't eat crayons anymore. 🤖✏️ Meanwhile, the actual news is just sitting there, wondering when it will get some attention instead. 🙄📉
