There it is, the M57, also known as the Ring Nebula. A planetary nebula about 2,000 light-years away, quietly glowing in the constellation Lyra.
After a couple of nights out with the telescope, battling focus, clouds, and expectations, this photo is far from perfect β but it's real. A tiny ring of gas, the remains of a dying star, floating in the void.
