================
Messier 63 - a flocculent spiral 27 million light-years away in Canes Venatici. Unlike grand-design galaxies with their sweeping arms, M63 breaks its two main arms into dozens of short, feathery segments that give it that distinctive petal-like appearance. Deep exposures also reveal two companion galaxies hiding in the field: UGC 8313, a tiny edge-on spiral suspected to be a true physical neighbor, and UGC 8365 in the lower left - a background barred spiral at 69 million light-years, coincidentally aligned behind the group.
