Our last day in Knapdale. It's been a glorious, if sometimes wet, time. Hills and lochs, white beaches, ancient settlements, wildlife galore, secret beaver places, peace and quiet. Many, many miles walked. So much more to see but that will have to wait. Off to meet up with the extended family, that will be a hoot.

Images from our explorations of mainland Argyll and some of the inshore islands. Mountains, hills, forests, islands, coastlines and lochs.

Tiretigan cave #Knapdale was investigated by Coles in 1961 as part of an exploratory programme for #Mesolithic sites. A predominantly quartz #lithic assemblage was recovered (see 'other sites' at the end of his paper on Kilmelfort Cave https://archaeologydataservice.ac.uk/archiveDS/archiveDownload?t=arch-352-1/dissemination/pdf/vol_113/113_011_021.pdf )
