Been doing daily freestyle #kayaking practice during this beach vacation. I’m slowly gaining better control of my reflexes, core muscles, and the boat’s edges.

Took my old rodeo boat - a Dagger Centrifuge - out for some flat water exercises.

My recent #kayaking course has given me a better sense of how to more finely control the boat’s position and movement.

And the water here is warm enough that rolling doesn’t carry as much of a penalty in terms of fatigue as it does on whitewater.

As a basic exercise, I taught myself to rotate the boat using just my core muscles and the edges, no paddle.

Really surprised to see this lake look so deceivingly calm yesterday even though there were wind gusts of 6 Bft.
Would have blown the kayak down the lake in a hurry but eventually I'd have to turn it around 😬.
Itching to launch the kayak some time this week. The rack is on the car.
