Karkara is a band from Toulouse, France that plays grooving, long form rock with a mixture of garage sound and overtly psychedelic tones. They lean towards the harder side of the spectrum than, say, the atmospheric and trippy side. The trio incorporates some of the classic, '70s heavy rock idioms into their sound. Guitarist Karim Rihani is particularly keen on exploring middle eastern tonalities in his riffs and leads, with some of the rich North African textures that end up amplifying the stoner quality the band projects. There is also a krautrock component to their music that lies underneath the surface that adds a motorik type, irresistible rolling feeling to their songs. They have been solidifying that sound consistently with each album.
