A recent The Onion headline got me thinking... [1]

ChatGPT, Gemini, CoPilot, and all the rest of the "AI"s are actually less useful than Jian-Yang's "Hotdog / Not-Hotdog" one, because although it was very limited, it was reliable within its boundaries.

You can't trust anything that comes out of any of today's "AI" [2], so it doesn't even reach that low bar.

[1] Always a dangerous thing.
[2] Yes, the scare quotes are required in all discussions of "AI" today.

@vik I'm reminded of writing by Matt Taibbi (or was it Aaron Mate?) about former spooks embedding themselves in news media roles and pretending to be independent, while continuing to serve the propaganda interests of their former employers. We should be as worried about Dr Paul Buchanan being a regular talking head on "global Security” in the NZ news media, as we are about Jian Yang being an MP in the NZ Parliament.
