Muntadhar al-Zaidi was born #OTD in 1979. As a broadcast journalist during the Iraq War, he was kidnapped at one point and also arrested by US armed forces. He later came to international prominence for throwing his shoes at US president George W. Bush at a press conference in December 2008, shouting “This is a farewell kiss from the Iraqi people, you dog!”
