'New research: 40% of teenage boys believe women lie about domestic and sexual violence'

A recent national survey of Australian adults and adolescents examined general misogynistic attitudes and support for violent extremism.

Some respondents justified violence in the private sphere. If a woman disobeys in the home, a man should be able to control her with violence.

Others supported abstract restrictions in the public sphere, such as limiting women’s reproductive rights. Some agreed with the sentiment that “sometimes a woman just pushes a man too far”, forcing him to commit acts of violence.

🇨🇦 Liberals adding femicide, pornographic deepfakes to Criminal Code

The proposed law is called the ‘Protecting Victims Act’ and among the changes it would tackle with those updates is femicide – murder motivated by hate against women, the minister said.

“We specifically will be creating a constructive first-degree murder charge where certain factors are present when a murder takes place, including a murder that is motivated by hate, including including murder that takes place during the commission of a sexual offense, and including murder that follows a pattern of coercive and controlling behavior,” Fraser said.
