Quirky science award ceremony moves to Europe over visa concerns

Organizers of an annual satirical award for scientific achievement are shifting for the first time from the United States to Europe due to concerns about winners and others being able to get visas. The Ig Nobels are organized by the Annals of Improbable Research, a digital magazine that highlights research that makes people laugh and think. The 36th annual ceremony will be held in Zurich. It’s usually held weeks before the actual Nobel Prizes are announced. The move announced Monday comes amid President Donald Trump’s sweeping crackdown on immigration.

The annual Ig Nobels, the awards for odd and funny scientific achievement, will be held outside the United States for the first time in its 36 years because of concerns about attendees' safety. The 2026 ceremony, which takes place in September ahead of the Nobel Prizes, will be held in Zurich. “We cannot in good conscience ask the new winners, or the international journalists who cover the event, to travel to the USA this year," Marc Abrahams, editor of event organizers the Annals of Improbable Research, told @AssociatedPress.

I've just learned that there are several examples of milkshake duck Nobel Peace Prize winners. Here's this year's Ig Nobel Peace Prize award instead:
