We had a lovely day yesterday on the Isle of Arran with a lot of warm sun to remind us that we are still in summer. We visited Brodick castle and really enjoyed the romantic style gardens as parts felt like you were walking through a woodland and the wild birds were used to humans so they came pretty close. It has been a lovely week and I have done a lot of book buying as I have filled the suitcase with books to read when we get home

We've had a lovely but damp day exploring Ayr this morning and then Culzean Castle this afternoon where the interior decoration was a lot more pared back when compared to Mount Stuart. May need an early night tonight as it has been a lot of walking today and yesterday

Just about to get off the ferry and visit the Isle of Bute today and Mount Stuart. Looks like the rain may hold off but we are prepared if it starts again

We have made it to Scotland, we have just had a lunch break at Gretna Green and we are now back on the coach heading to our hotel in Irvine for the next few days. Looking forward to the chance to relax and slow down. I've already caved and bought a little haggis to keep company with the one I have at home, resisted the bottles and cans of beer though

1. We saw some blue sky and sun yesterday afternoon after a week or more of wall to wall grey clouds

2. I still have just over a week more of holiday to recharge my batteries

3. Plus side to losing the majority of sports I watch due to a stupid price increase by WB Sports (£6.99 to £31.99 a month) I will have more time to read and play pc games
