#GrantProposal hot tips!
1) I figured out a way to incorporate voluntary land taxes into my research budget. I donate to an #Indigenous organization, then classify the receipt as “land use fees”, and I get reimbursed. It is working so far, which means that I can write this into #grant proposals as well! I don’t live where I do my field research, but my field work is on unceded Chumash land and I am there for a few months every year. I pay parking fees to the City of Santa Barbara, so why wouldn’t I also pay something like a land tax to the Chumash people? It just makes sense. 2) Instead of writing article processing fees into my grant budgets as “Publication fees”, I now ask for a lump sum donation to @PeerCommunityIn for running the free (for authors & readers) platform & also running @PeerCommunityJournal. Both of which are making publishing accessible & open without exploitative publishers
