I got a phone call with some weird audio artifacts in it today, and noticed that my phone said the call was "AI-Enhanced" by Google. One of the things I liked about this service was that it provided end-to-end encryption of calls that "not even Google can listen to", but now they've defaulted me to having voice processed on their servers.

I am FURIOUS. Not at the 'AI' aspect, but that my voice provider would quietly degrade my privacy so much without being clear about it.

 So, I did disable this nonsense, during yesterday's calls, and the calls since disabling it have been less choppy and noisy. #WTF

#Google has just announced that in their infinite wisdom the way they are going to support RCS messaging for #GoogleFi customers is by killing yet another product, Google Fi's message sync to web. By February 2026, all Google Fi customers have to turn off message sync and switch to the version of Google's #MessagesForWeb that synchronizes with your phone in real-time.
