Across the Highlands

Toujours un pincement au cœur, quand je poste des bouts d’Écosse…

// Exif on post’s instance

Well, today was unexpected.

Saturday which means going out for coffee with Billy. So he appears at mine, asks where we are heading, I say I have ran out of goats cheese, and ping, Billy says he has a friend that makes (and sells) goats cheese. So off we went.

Naturally that means a drive up through Glenshee, a stop for coffee, then up to his friends house in Banchory for coffee, a little walk so I could take photos of the river (not included in this batch of photos), a photo of a totem pole that signifies the Scouts many years of association with Scouts in Canada. Then since I still wanted to walk on a beach we done a fleeing visit to Aberdeen where I got to walk on the beach for a few minutes before the rain came lashing down.

I love how a couple of minutes on the beach, especially on a wild day, can absolutely reset my brain.

I am absolutely exhausted with those numb, heavy limbs again, I have super expensive goats cheese in the fridge, I bought one book (see that level of restraint 😉). At least I am home now, in my pjs, hot water bottle on my knee and I should really try to eat something now since all I have had today is a vegan sausage roll from Greggs.

Tomorrow is a definite rest day before physio on Monday morning!

First Munro (and hill day) of 2024 - An Socach from Glen Clunie, near Braemar. Munro no. 66. Cool, crisp, clear day. Chased the mist, so clear by the time we got to the summit, but cold wind.

Just came back from my trip to Scotland. Two days in Edinburgh and two days in Pitlochry. Drove to Braemer and made this shot driving through Glenshee. Scotland is so photogenic!!
Would love to go skiing here, one day!

Skye at the summit cairn on Tom Buidhe yesterday.

4 #munros of which 2 were new, 14 miles, 800m of ascent, 950m of descent as we were picked up at a different car park. Quite a big day out for us, but a good day.

A return to the Munros and munro-bagging after a bit of a hiatus. Numbers 38 and 39 for me: Creag Leacach and Glas Maol to the east of Glen Shee.
